Coordinator Bios

Venesa AliceaVenesa Alicea, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, is the 2011-2012 Regional Associate Director for the NY Region on the AIA National Associates Committee and Co-Chair of the AIANY Emerging New York Architects Committee. She is a Registered Architect in NYS, currently working at Dattner Architects. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the City College of New York, and is actively involved in the CCNY Architecture Alumni Association. She has been an active member of the AIANY Chapter since 2005. She has demonstrated leadership through her involvement with the Emerging New York Architects and the Women in Architecture Committees of the AIA New York Chapter, with a focus on diversity, and the professional development of students and young professionals.

Brynnemarie LanciottiBrynnemarie Lanciotti, Assoc. AIA received her Bachelor of Architecture from Roger Williams University. She began her career in Rhode Island, first at the Urban Design Group and then moving onto Brewster Thornton Group Architects, and at both firms, gaining experience in a variety of residential and public works. She has currently been working in the city now for 3 years as a Designer for Franke, Gottsegen, Cox Architects. Brynnemarie joined ENYA, Emerging New York Architects Competition Committee in 2009 and took on the leadership role as co-editor for their exhibition publication.

Javier CarcamoJavier Carcamo is a graduate from CCNY School of Architecture class of 2008 and is currently an ARE candidate. He was appointed to Community Board 9 Manhattan in 2009 and is now serving as CO-Chair of the Zoning/ Land-use Committee. He's also a standing member of the landmarks Committee and Executive Committee.

Julie EnghJulie Engh, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP is currently completing her IDP requirements at Avinash K. Malhotra Architects, where she has spent five years working on new construction and historic conversion residential, hospitality, and medical projects throughout New York City. While studying urban design and architectural studies, English literature, and metropolitan studies at New York University's College of Arts and Science, Julie spent a semester in London and interned at the Landmarks Preservation Commission. She has since earned her LEED AP credential, and a Mechanics' Institute Construction Project Management certificate. Through the AIA NY's Architectural Tourism Committee, Julie currently conducts architectural boat tours and is researching and developing walking tours.

Ernesto L. MartinezErnesto L. Martinez is the co-founder/program director of the annual Temporary Outdoor Gallery Space (TOGS) International Ideas Competition and received the Innovator of the Year award from Art Alliance Austin in 2008 for his work on the competition. Ernesto holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute. He has received recognition for his photography from Photographer's Forum. Ernesto has practiced at the office of Robert A.M. Stern Architects and is currently an Adjunct Professor for the School of Architecture at New Jersey Institute of Technology. Ernesto continues to promote art and design via the non-profit sector in Austin and New York City while working towards his architecture license.

Sean G. RasmussenSean G. Rasmussen, Assoc. AIA received a Bachelors of Architecture from Syracuse University and a Masters of Architecture and Urbanism from the Architectural Association in London. He has over seven years of experience in high end residential architecture and has been a part of the ENYA competition planning committee since 2007. He is currently sitting for his ARE examinations while working for Tsao & McKown Architects as an architectural designer.

Amanda RiveraAmanda Rivera, Assoc. AIA, is a junior designer at Swanke Hayden Connell Architects and has been a volunteer with the Emerging New York Architect's committee since 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Environmental Design from Kent State University as well as a Masters of Architecture from Pratt Institute where her graduate student work has been highlighted in Pratt's academic publication, "In Process." She is currently enrolled in NCARB's Internship Development Program and looks forward to taking her first ARE exam soon.

Misael RojasMisael Rojas, Assoc. AIA is currently with Mitchell Giurgola Architects and is also an active core member of ENYA - Emerging New York Architects of AIANY. He has worked as a staff Architect, Project Manager, Graphics Specialist, and Construction Detailer in various firms in New York City and New Jersey. Misael graduated from NJIT SOA in 2002 and is currently attending Columbia University for a Master's of Science in Construction Administration. A father of two, he finds himself running from one activity to another on a daily basis - "I wouldn't have it any other way", he's heard said often, "If you stand still, the world will simply pass you by and we're not on this rock that long to begin with". During free time, Misael could be found building something in his workshop, drawing, or spending time with his daughters and good friends.

Cale SadowskiCale Sadowski, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP attended the University of Kansas, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Architecture. He moved to New York shortly thereafter, taking a job with Holzman Moss where he worked for over 3 years before working for S3 architecture. Cale is currently an ARE candidate.

Jessica SheridanJessica Sheridan, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP BD+C, is a Project Manager at Gensler with more than eight years of experience in the field of architecture. She has been a member of the AIA New York Chapter's Emerging New York Architects Committee (ENYA) since 2003, when she graduated with a MArch I from the Rhode Island School of Design. She served as the committee's co-chair from 2009-2010 and has been involved with the Competitions Program since 2004. As the Editor-in-Chief of e-Oculus, the AIA New York Chapter's bi-weekly e-zine, she also contributes articles and has a regular op-ed column called the "Editor's Soapbox" exploring issues relevant to NYC and the AIA.

Matthew TehanMatthew Tehan, Assoc. AIA is an aspiring architect currently working in New York City towards his completion of the Intern Development Program. Prior to graduating magna cum laude from Virginia Tech he interned with several architectural firms, including Baskervill in Richmond, Virginia and Perkins Eastman in New York City, as well as with Metropolis Magazine as a Marketing Intern. As an Eagle Scout, Matthew continues his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, and additionally volunteers in the architectural community through the AIA. In his free time Matthew is an avid tinkerer, and is always working on some new project from taking apart and building computers to building models of his favorite buildings. He is currently living in Astoria, New York, and can be contacted through his website at
